California says no to TANF funds from strip club ATMs

California has its budget troubles, and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is ready to commando up against waste – such as strip club ATMs distributing welfare cash. The Los Angeles Times reports that more than $ 12,000 designated for the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program, which is intended for welfare purposes, was withdrawn at various strip clubs across the state from 2007 to 2009. Clubs named in the California Department of Social Services investigation consist of Sam’s Hofbrau, Seventh Veil and Star Strip.

Strip club welfare ATMs – When you need adult entertainment

Less-than-responsible is an apt way to describe use of strip club ATMs for cash today, which is why Schwarzenegger is prepared to terminate. Quick TANF payday funds are accessible via ATM in over half of California’s casinos and poker rooms, writes the Times. Lizelda Lopez of Social Services said that a “common sense” approach is needed to evaluate where ATM locations for TANF access are most appropriate.

We have TANF ATMs?

Not surprisingly, strip club owners in question – or at least those who would speak on the topic to the media – claimed to be unaware that their ATMs were TANF approved. Joey Mancini of Star Strip said the third-party machines were supposedly from Quest ATM, but there was no sticker that marked it as welfare money compatible. Thus, Mr. Mancini insisted that California was wrong of accusing him of any wrongdoing, although $ 1,265 TANF emergency cash advance loans bucks were take in his club just lately.

Beware, strip club owners like Joey Mancini – Arnold will suffer no predators of the financially disadvantage in his state.
